Napetpalli murder accused held

A tomboy has been rounded up by Lamlai police station personnel in connection with the death of an elderly vegetable trader woman Chandam Momon (63) at Napet Palli area some days back.
Speaking to newspersons this evening, Additional SP (Law & Order) of Imphal East district police Hushne Jaman identifying the murder accused as Ningthoujam Thoinu alias Heinu alias Bijeshori (23) d/o Kumar of Napet Mamang Leikai in Imphal East district said the elderly woman was stabbed to death as the tomboy intended to snatch the victim's earrings of one san.
While informing that Thoinu was rounded up from Palli Keithel this morning based on specific information and that the accused has confessed to have murdered Momon, Hushne said at around 6 pm of November 6 Thoinu went to Momon's rented quarter and stabbed the elderly woman with a kitchen knife before snatching the victim's earrings.
Prior to the killing, Thoinu massaged Momon when the latter said she was feeling unwell.
Spotting the earrings and taken advantage of no one in the vicinity, Thoinu stabbed the victim, the police officer quoted the murder accused as saying.
The earrings were sold for Rs 6700 to a goldsmith at the temporary market shed in Khwairamband Keithel, the ASP said adding that relevant procedures for further police remand of Thoinu would be initiated as investigation in the case is not yet over.
It may be mentioned that Momon's lifeless corpse was discovered on November 8 afternoon inside her rented room.
The victim was originally from Ikou.
