For the third consecutive day, sit-in-protest denouncing the State Government's alleged failure to check increase in prices of essential goods was staged today at Andolan Keithel, Khoyathong under the aegis of Protection and Prevention Committee, a conglomerate of civil society organisations.
The protest demonstration was organised jointly by Khoyathong unit of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lup, Manipur and women vendors plying their trade at the market shed.
Speaking to newspersons at the protest site, Committee convenor Elangbam Chanu Tamphatombi said despite traders selling consumer goods at exorbitant rate taking advantage of shortage of essential items triggered by the ongoing economic blockade there had been no concrete measures by the Government of Manipur to check such trade malpractices.
