Imphal, September 10 2020:
The United Association of Recognized Schools of Manipur (UARSoM) has demanded the State Government to resolve the long standing tuition fee-salary impasse before reopening of schools.
"UARSoM is shocked to see the apathy of the State Education Department in resolving the long standing tuition fee-salary impasse.
This issue has been strangulating private schools since the enforcement of the infamous order of the Commissioner (Education-Schools) dated June 20,2020," said UARSoM in a statement.
"This order reeks of immaturity and needs serious introspection by all right thinking people of the State before it does permanent damage to private schools, teachers and students," it said.
UARSoM said they have been requesting the Department concerned for revocation of the said order through submission of representations, memorandums and by meeting with the Education Minister, officials of the State Education Department and finally the Chief Minister.
"UARSoM is clear with its stand that this tution fee-salary issue must be resolved amicably before the State Government begins contemplating reopening of schools," it added.
UARSoM further expressed dismay saying that the State Education Department is exploring grounds for reopening of schools by holding meetings with people from different walks of life while deliberately ignoring private school authorities, the prime stakeholder in the school education sector.
"It is unfortunate that the Education Department has been ignoring private school authorities to discuss matters related to schools and school education, for instance, the series of NEP 2020 meetings," it said.
UARSoM demanded to review the order issued by the Commissioner Education (S) on June 20 last and reissue the same by giving equal weightage to three prime stakeholders-parents, teachers and school authorities within September 16 .
