MCPCR to monitor RTE Act

The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights ( MCPCR) would soon carry out inspection visits to Government and private schools to monitor implementation of the provisions of RTE Act and safety guidelines prescribed by NCPCR.
MCPCR Chairperson Keisam Pradipkumar has issued an advisory in this regard to the Directorate of Education (S).
According to the advisory, MCPCR has been tasked with mainstreaming of internally displaced children, prohibition of corporal punishment, bullying of students at students and formation of anti-bullying committees at schools, infringement of rights of the marginalised sections of students such as transgender community, unauthorised interference and dictates by school authorities upon right of visitation by parents to their wards in schools etc.
It also directed the Director of Education(S) to inform concerned ZEOs to be nodal officers and join the commission in the inspection of schools.
Their (ZEOs) involvement will enable a more thorough evaluation and ensure effective implementation of safety and security measures in schools, said the advisory.
