UCORECH to organise consultative meet on illegal migrants

Imphal, August 08 2023: With the objective of addressing the restive situation in the State, the United Council for Restoration of Communal Harmony, Manipur (UCORECH) is gearing up to organise a "Consultative meeting on illegal migrants" on August 12 at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) Hall at 11 am.

Urging the public to participate in the consultative meet during a press briefing held today at UCORECH Office located at Konung Mamang, Pusham Ezaz Ahamed, secretary publicity said that the Council believes that it can contribute in some significant way to address the prevailing issues in the State.

Maintaining that some resolutions will also be passed during the consultative meet, he further shared that many eminent personalities and subject matter experts will grace the meet and speak to the gathering.

Claiming that the Council maintained a neutral stance during the 1997-1998 Kuki vs Paite clashes and made significant efforts to rein in the violence, Ezaz maintained that now the Kukis and Paites have united to attack the Meitei community.

This is due to a lack of respect between the different communities and an ignorance of the real owners of the land, he opined.
