Imphal, March 08 2018: A condolence meeting was held at Forest Head Office, Manipur on March 5, in connection with the sudden and untimely demise of S Manikandan, IFS Field Director, Nagerhole Tiger Reserve.

A press release issued by the secretary, IFS Association, Manipur stated that the meeting chaired by PCCF, HoFF and president, IFS Association, Manipur, K Angami, mourned the death of S Manikandan and shared the sorrow and grief of the bereaved family.

S Manikandan was attacked in DB Kuppe forest range, near Kabini backwaters in Mysuru district, while assessing the damage caused by forest fire.

The grievously injured Conservator of Forest was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

He had worked extensively to limit instances of cattle smuggling and elephant killing.

He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
