Imphal, February 08 2021:
The State police allegedly 'made a scene' at Dhanamanjuri College today while attempting to evict lady hostellers who came to stay at the university's hostel without 'authorisation'.
Speaking to media persons, one of the students, Nganthoilembi stated that students from distant places face a lot of inconvenience in attending classes which began on January 29 last.
According to Nganthoilembi, not only the Education Minister gave approval to open the hostel on January 30, but also the College's Registrar issued a notification for the same.
However, as the authority concerned 'failed' to fix a fee structure and a date for opening the hostel, certain students met the College Principal and Registrar, she said adding that the college authority kept postponing the date for opening the hostels.
As some students face a lot of inconvenience coming to college regularly from home, the students resolved to start staying at the hostel from today, she said and added that a team of State police attempted to oust them by 'kicking' the hostel gate and even climbed the adjacent wall.
