Imphal, February 08 2020:
The seven samples sent from the State to National Institute of Virology, Pune have been tested negative for coronavirus.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Health Services Director Dr K Rajo on Saturday said all the seven samples from the State have been tested negative for coronavirus by the Indian Council of Medical Research-National Institute of Virology (ICMR-NIV), Pune.
Results of four samples were known earlier while that of the remaining three samples were received Saturday.
It may be noted that amidst fear of coronavirus, two of the samples had tested positive for swine flu recently and State Health Department has been taking up pre-emptive measures to counter both coronavirus and swine flu.
All efforts are on to prevent spread of coronavirus in the State, said the Director.
First reported from China's Wuhan in Hubei province, the novel coronavirus is spreading fast and has killed more than 600 people.
And, India has also confirmed three cases in Kerala so far.
With active border trade between Myanmar and India making Manipur vulnerable, the State Health Department has been screening individuals crossing border at Moreh town since the past few days.
Medical teams have also been stationed at Jiribam.
So far, there has been no report of anyone being quarantined in any part of the State.
