Imphal, February 08 2013:
Welcoming an invitation from the Government to talk over the demand raised by the VDF personnel, the All Manipur VDF Welfare Association has relaxed its ongoing indefinite State-wide bandh for 48 hours beginning from 6pm today (Feb 8) .
This was decided during a meeting attended by 20 VDF personnel each from all the districts at an undisclosed location in the valley area, a statement issued by the AMVDFWA said.
The meeting attended by around 200 VDF personnel also decided to launch intense agitation besides tendering en masse resignation of 10,000 VDF personnel if the Government fails to fulfil the demand of hiking honorarium in respect of the VDF personnel.
The statement said that neither the VDF personnel would resume their duty during the relaxed period nor the concerned officer should assign them duties.

Pointing out that a representation was submitted to the Govt on October 21, 2011 urging honorarium hike for VDF personnel, the statement asked whether the alleged negligence of the Govt has shown its prejudice towards the personnel.
The statement further questioned whether the treatment meted out to VDF personnel who were not only assigned equal duty with higher paid police constable, MR/IRB personnel, but also used as bondsmen by officers for their individual and domestic purposesdoesn't merit deliberation.
Drawing the attention of all concerned towards their plights, the statement also urged the Govt to save their future.
