Manipur Press Club observes 47th Foundation Day

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has assured that a lift will be installed in the 4 storeyed building of Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
The statement was made by the CM at the 47th Foundation Day observance of Manipur Press Club held under the supervision of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union on January 6 at Manipur Press Club.
The function was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba; Khogendra Khomdram, president Editors' Guild Manipur and Wangkhemcha Shamjai, president AMWJU as presidium members as well as working mediapersons and retired mediapersons.
Blankets and shawls were distributed to founders of Manipur Press Club and former secretaries of the press club through the CM by Manipur Press Club.
The CM also provided monetary aid to retired media persons and other non-retired media persons who had not availed of any pension schemes.
Further, the CM also assured that he would replace the chairs in hall no 1 of the press club with superior quality chairs and install a lift in the building to remove the inconvenience of using the stairs.
He also empathized with the struggles of journalists and media houses stating that he was previously a scribe and expressed regret over the non-payment of advertisement bills with the assurance that the same would be paid as soon as possible.
It may be noted that N Biren Singh, then Editor of Naharolgi Thoudang, served the president of AMWJU many years back.
