Lamka, November 06 2012:
The Suspension of Operation signatories, Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United Peoples' Front (UPF) today formed a Core Committee in an attempt to work-out a common policy which they intend to table before the Government.
The armed groups which have constantly been at loggerheads on almost all issues have made the unprecedented move after a second summit within a month somewhere here.
The two armed conglomerates have already met on October 6, on the same issue.
Still reluctant to discuss the tenets in public, leaders of the armed groups today only said they have formed a committee to work-out a common demand acceptable to both, after persistent inquiries.
Notably, the KNO on its part said that they are game for a separate Kuki State while the UPF has insisted on a State-within a State under Article 244A of the Indian Constitution.
Significantly the spokesperson of the KNO had recently bemoaned the lack of progress in the SoO even after seven years of it becoming operational.
