Ukhrul, August 06 2024: The Wungya Long, Yaingang-pokpi has vehemently condemned indiscriminate firing on Tangkhul villages of New Canaan, Wunghon and Leiyaram on August 3 which endangered lives of innocent villagers.

The incident happened at around 9.30 pm on August 3 .

The villages of New Canaan, Wunghon and Leiyaram came under indiscriminate firing from Yai- ngangpokpi-Thamnapokpi area.

Bullets suspectedly fired from automatic weapons damaged houses and properties of the villagers.

People were fortunate to have escaped unhurt, said the Wungya Long.

It said the reckless and thoughtless provocation is condemned in the strongest terms, and stressed that such acts may harm the cordial relationship among the people living in the area.

It urged the Superintendents of Police of Ukhrul and Imphal East to conduct investigation into the incident and ensure "safety and justice" to people.
