The 68th Hiroshima Day 2013 was observed by the Indo Japan Friendship Association, Manipur today at Manipur Press Club.
Ph Nandakumar Sharma, founder secretary of IJFAM read out the message and peace declaration of the Mayor of Hiroshima while a two-minute silence was observed for the departed souls of Hiroshima bombing in 1945 .
Speaking as the chief guest, Parliamentary Secretary, Mairenbam Prithiviraj stressed on the need to tread the path of progress through peaceful dialogue and discourse.
It would be more welcome if the public come forward to constructively point out any misdeeds of the Govt instead of launching charged diatribe against the Government, he said.
Presentation of awards to winners of International Children's Peace Drawing Competition, 2012 at Japan was another highlight of the observance function.
Meanwhile, similar programme was organised by the Manipur University Nihongo Alumni Association (MUNAA) at MU's Guest House today which was attended by Prof H Tombi Singh, retired VC of MU and Prof N Lokendra Singh, Registrar of MU as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
