Imphal, December 05 2011:
Alleging that police have not initiated any action with regard to the murder of Mutum Manichandra of Bishnupur Ward No 8, the bereaved mother and the JAC constituted in connection with the murder of Manichandra have raised strong suspicion that police may sweep the case under the carpet.
Eleven year old Mutum Manichandra s/o Mutum Manitomba was found dead inside the campus of CI College, Bishnupur on October 21 .
Speaking to media persons at the office of NIPCO at Keishampat junction today, Manichandra's mother Dhanabati said that police have not done anything after his son was brutally murdered.
Police have not yet pulled up any suspects even as the JAC has pointed the suspects.
The post mortem report has not been given to the family, Dhanabati lamented.
"My son was brought to CI College after he was murdered somewhere else by some people", said Dhanabati while recalling that Manichandra was found dead after three days since the day he went missing.
After Manichandra was found missing, a report was filed with the police immediately.
Police could not find Manichandra.
Even after Manichandra was found murdered, police have done very little to probe into the murder case.
Expressing strong suspicion if police would bury the case under sands of time, the bereaved mother said that they have no more faith in police.
Nevertheless, she appealed to all authorities concerned to find out the facts and circumstances of the murder and ensure that justice is delivered.
Convenor of the JAC N Nganbi said that police have been refusing to pull up the suspect because he is just 16 years old.
Even if the suspect is a minor, he should be taken to a juvenile Court.
But Bishnupur Police have been sleeping over the case till date.
The JAC would continue with all kinds of agitation until justice is delivered, Nganbi added.
