Thadou Inpi, Manipur formed

A new organisation of Thadous christened Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) has been formed as a full-fledged body for three years during Thadou Convention.
Notably, the 2-day Thadou Convention 2024 was held at Guwahati on November 1 and 2 .
H James Thadou, Michael Lamjathang Haokip and seven others have been elected as the president, general secretary and executive members of TIM respectively.
Three other persons were also elected as advisors to TIM.
As per a statement issued by Thadou Community International (TCI), TIM will function as the legitimate apex body of Thadou tribe for Manipur, providing strategic leadership, coordination and advocacy.
TIM will also spearhead, be responsible for, and coordinate movements and representation and all affairs relating to Thadous of Manipur and beyond as needed, it added.
Thadou Inpi Jiribam (TIJ), which shall be under the supervision of Thadou Inpi Manipur, has also been formed with SK Thadou as president, TCI said and added that Thadou Inpi Mizoram, Thadou Inpi Karbi Anglong and Thadou Inpi Dima Hasao in Assam were also formed with leaders elected for each unit.
The convention also formed Thadou Chiefs' Council (TCC) led by Th Helien Thadou, chief of Jampi and Lhunkholet Haokip as convenor and co-convenor, it added.
Other Thadou organisations which have been formed included Thadou Academic Society, Thadou Elders' Association (Upalom), Thadou Human Rights Advocacy and North-East Thadou Sustainable Economic Development Society.
TCI continued that an important decision was taken to place a demand for recognition of Thadou tribe as a separate, distinct Scheduled Tribe from Any Kuki Tribe in Assam and Mizoram and Nagaland.
Thadou Convention 2024 was jointly organised by Thadou Community International (TCI) and Thadou Students' Association (TSA) .
A 10-point declaration and several resolutions were also adopted during the convention to secure the interests and aspirations of Thadou people, it said and added that the convention unanimously resolved that Thadou is not Kuki, or underneath Kuki, or part of Kuki, but a separate, independent entity.
