Coldest day, hottest day of 2019 laid out

As per a report of the Agro-Meteorology Unit of ICAR RC for NEH Region for last year, Manipur recorded its coldest day on January 1 (2019) with temperature dropping down to 2.3 degree Celsius while the State recorded its hottest day for the year on July 18 with temperature reaching 35 degree Celsius.
A press release issued by the Agromet Advisory Services of ICAR Manipur Centre informed that as per the report, a minimum temperature of 23.8 degree Celsius (on July 19, 2019) was recorded as the highest minimum temperature for the year and temperature of 13.4 degree Celsius (on December 27) was recorded as the lowest maximum temperature for the year, making it the second lowest maximum temperature recorded in the month of December in the past 40 years (after a lowest record of 13.3 degree Celsius on December 28, 1983) .
It continued that the monthly average temperature ranged from a minimum of 4.6 degree Celsius (January) to maximum of 30.7 degree Celsius (June and August) with a highest minimum temperature of 22.5 degree Celsius in the month of August and a lowest maximum temperature of 22.5 degree Celsius in the month of December.
On the other hand, it conveyed that as per the report, the State recorded an annual rainfall of 1,137.1 mm with 94 rainy days.
The annual rainfall during 2019 was around 21.5 percent less than the normal rainfall.
A daily rainfall of 78 mm (on October 27) was the daily highest rainfall of the year while a monthly total of 253.7 mm (September) was the highest monthly rainfall.
It continued that moderate seasonal drought like situation was observed in the period from December 2018 to February 2019, with a 27.8 percent rainfall deficit and from March to May, 2019, with a 46.1 percent rainfall deficit.
A severe drought was observed in the month of August with 68.1 percent rainfall deficit, it explained, adding that, however, normal condition was observed during the period from June to September last year with 17.6 rainfall deficit.
