Imphal, August 04 2024: Apropos to the news item that a retired teacher has been reappointed as Dean in-charge of the College of Agriculture (COA) Iroisemba and in-charge Director of Instruction of Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal, the Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has said they will launch an agitation if the relevant authority fails to rescind the order of this reappointment with five days DESAM, in a statement, said there is a deliberate violation of the existing Rules and Regulations of the University concerning the re-employment of a superannuated faculty member.

Saying that they will also submit a memorandum to the Union Minister concerned regarding the issue, the student organisation put forth a list of 10 Senior Professors who are eligible for the two positions.

Saying that the person in question superannuated on July 31, 2024 but she has been allowed to hold the posts of Dean in-charge of the COA and in-charge Director of Instruction CAU, DESAM added that this re-engagement for administrative power is a clear violation of the University's rules and regulations.

DESAM reasoned that re-engagement in an academic capacity might be permissible but holding positions such as Dean, Director or a Head of the department is not permissible.
