Imphal, August 04 2021:
Commemorating the August 4, 1997 mass rally which was taken out with a pledge to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur, the All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) observed the 24th Manipur Integrity Day at its office at Kwakeithel, today.
The observance was attended by Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president L Memchoubi; All Manipur Muslim Development Organisation president FM Manawar Ali and AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang as presidium members.
As a part of the observance, floral tributes were also paid at the Integrity Pillar at Mapal Kangjeibung.
On the occasion, Nando Luwang recalled that the historic march, which is considered to be one of the biggest in Manipur, was taken out to stand firm against any threat posed by the ceasefire agreement signed between Government of India and NSCN (IM) on the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Saying that AMUCO, along with the people has been facing the dishonorable schemes of Gol that pose a threat to the boundary of Manipur and unity among the communities since then, Nando appealed to all to be aware of the ploy of the Gol so as to bring emotional integrity among the communities settled in Manipur.
He also accused the Government of India of playing a divisive game to realise their vested interest and further appealed to the people of Manipur to stand unitedly against this divisive policy.
Nando further alleged that all the infighting and disharmony seen among the communities of Manipur is an outcome of the GoI's divisive policy.
The State unity and territory is non negotiable and none of the community residing in the State should attempt to distort the history of Manipur, Nando added.
Further urging the people to refrain from using communal tone on social media, Nando maintained that AMUCO is ready to face any attempts that challenge the integrity of Manipur.
