Imphal, May 04 2016:
Yambem Laba, the founder president of Ima Leishem Inaat Loishang (ILIL), has apologised to the Wangkhei locals on behalf of ILIL for all the misunderstandings and subsequent violent incident which occurred at Panthou complex on May 2 .
Addressing a press conference held at Uripok, Yambem Laba said that ILIL was established in 2006 and he is the founder president of the organisation.
Stating that every dispute can be resolved through peaceful talks, Yambem Laba said that ILIL would not lodge any police complaint regarding the loss of properties and damage of vehicles during the violent confrontation which broke out at Panthou complex on May 2. However, ILIL does not have any knowledge whether the vehicle owners had lodged complaints personally, he said.
Laba said that the unwanted incident occurred due to miscommunication and misunderstanding.
As such, the issue must be resolved peacefully as the incident has given unwanted stress to the followers of Panthou and the curfew has been causing inconvenience to Wangkhei locals as well, Laba said.
He also appealed to Wangkhei locals to allow the followers of Panthou to get inside Panthou complex to perform religious activities.
Laba further said that ILIL secretary A Medha would withdraw the statement made against Wangkhei locals through an apology to be made in the newspapers.
He also stated that the locals might have gone through lots of inconvenience in the past due to loud speakers and congestion of vehicles caused by frequent functions held inside Panthou complex.
Regarding the matter, ILIL wishes to hold a meeting with the locals to arrive at a mutual understanding and finalise corrective measures to avoid unwanted incidents.
ILIL executive member Phanjoubam Romesh said that they held a meeting with Wangkhei locals and JAC members at the office chamber of SP Imphal East and agreed to carry out demarcation of the disputed land.
It was also agreed to make clarification by ILIL secretary A Medha regarding the press statement made against the Meira Shanglen of Wangkhei.
It was also resolved to revoke the ban imposed on entry of followers at Panthou complex after the publication of the clarification in newspapers.
Medha said that they bought a land from Haobam Ibopishak some years back and started construction works in the area before the land dispute broke out between them and locals of Wangkhei Hijam Leikai.
When enquired about the whereabouts of Panthou by the reporters, all the three persons addressing the press conference refused to disclose it.
