ADC Sadar Hills reinstates SDO/BDO Saikul

In its endeavour to improve the functions of Sadar Hills administration, ADC Sadar Hills under the leadership of its Chairman Haokholal Hangshing reinstated SDO/BDO Saikul today after several rounds of meeting with the chiefs, CSOs and SDOs Saikul and Island block.
SDO/BDO Saikul has been reinstated at its original headquarters after the office has been allegedly functioning at Khurai Lamlong Heikru Makhong, Imphal East for more than 25 years.
A series of Block-wise meeting with the chiefs, CSOs and BLOs concerned were organized by ADC Sadar Hills during March and April under the theme, "Socio-economic development and understanding among all" to ensure modernization and enhancement of Sadar Hills administration.
Common problems of the general public of Saikul and Island block were discussed during the joint meeting with the village chiefs, CSOs including Kuki Inpi, KWU, KSO Saikul and SANPO under the initiative of ADC Sadar Hills on July 22 at Kuki Inn, Imphal where they collectively resolved that both SDOs Saikul and Island should function at its respective Sub-Divisional headquarters within July, 2016 .
Speaking at the function, Haokholal Hangshing said that Autonomous District Council is endowed with certain powers and functions on land, revenue, judicial, etc in which even the Deputy Commissioner cannot directly interfere.
Elaborating the importance of SDO/BDO, the ADC Chairman said that SDO being a Sub Divisional Magistrate plays a vital role to ensure the welfare of the public apart from maintaining law and order.
The Chairman also paid tribute to Late Shonkhothang and appreciated for his creating awareness on the importance of SDO for the well being of the society while adding that Shonkhothang was the man behind the efficient functioning of SDO Saikul in the late 60s/70s.The ADC Chairman appealed to the public, chiefs and CSOs of the area to extend their cooperation towards the officials and staff members of the SDO.
Meanwhile, representatives of Medical Department in the joint meeting highlighted the lack of adequate doctors at PHC Saikul which was declared to have opened 24x7 services and urged the ADC Members to look into matter.
Home secretary of SoO signatory KNO/KRA Jeremy Khongsai said that KRA is actively contributing towards the development of the area and well being of the Government departments in Saikul Hill Town while adding that the organization has always ensured safety of the Government officials and staff members.
Jeremy Khongsai also appealed to the Government employees to report if any employee is being harassed by its cadre to the town command so that befitting action can be initiated
if found guilty.
