SBI presents Rs 10 lakh to S Mirabai Chanu

Imphal, August 03 2021: Silver medallist of Tokyo Olympics 2020, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and Women Footballer of the Year named by All India Football Federation, Ngangom Bala were felicitated in a simple ceremony held at Chumthang Shannapung at Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai today.

Speaking on the occasion, managing director of Chumthang Shannapung, Soraisam ongbi Kebi said that the felicitation programme has been held with an aim to inspire the younger generation to venture into the field of sports.

Stating the sports complex, Chumthang Shannapung have been developed to save the youths who are into sports to provide a place for them to practice, she expressed belief that following the foot steps of the sports personalities who have brought laurels to the State, the sports complex will help in producing young and energetic sports persons in future.

A golden card which of Chumthang Shannapung which provides free lifetime practice in the sports complex was also gifted to Saikhom Mirabai Chanu by S Kebi.

S Mirabai Chanu also inaugurated a newly developed badminton hall in the sports complex today.

First boxing coach of S Mirabai and Dhyan Chand awardee, L Anita, Arjuna awardees L Sarita and O Bembem and goalkeeping coach L Ronibala were also present on the occasion.

In another occasion, State Bank of India (SBI) presented a cash award of Rs 10 lakh to Silver medallist of Tokyo Olympics, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu today in a felicitation programme held at Classic Hotel at North AOC.

Speaking on the occasion, General Manager of SBI North East Circle, Lunkim Thangboi lauded Mirabai for her glorious feat in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020 thereby making the State proud.

He also extended best wishes and prayed for success in all her future endeavours and to bring in more laurels.

Regional Manager of Regional Business Office SBI Imphal, Girindra Sarma announced that a new SBI branch in Lamlai soon as per the request of S Mirabai Chanu and assured that SBI will extend best possible support to her in all her ventures.
