Imphal, August 03 2020: Ningol Club has urged the State Government to hand over Lukhosei Zou case to CBI during a poster campaign held against drug abuse at Heirok Part-II Bazar, today.

The campaign is a continuation of the CADA's poster campaign that began yesterday.

Speaking to media persons, secretary general of the club, Yaiphabi Ningthoujam said that the said case should be handed over to the premier investigation agency of the Country to ensure impartial investigation.

Asking how drugs related case are increasing rapidly in the State, she opined that War on drugs will serve no purpose as long as drug lords are given a free hand.

Legislatures in the State are reluctant to find a solution for the drug issue that is prevalent in the State for a long time as it is a boon to win elections, Yaiphabi said and added that the State Government has not done anything worthwhile to check smuggling and misusing of drugs in the State.

She also claimed that the assurance given by Chief Minister N Biren to enact a law that restricts releasing drugs smugglers on bail in the last Assembly session turned out to be just a rhetoric.

Further alleging that drugs manufacturing unit is already opened in Manipur, Yaiphabi demanded the State Government to to arrest all drug smugglers/ lords and punish them accordingly to save the civilization of Manipur.
