Four vie for IMC Chairperson post

A race for the Chairperson's post has come up after the IMC elections concluded with the Congress emerging as the majority.
Four councillors of the Congress are in the race for the chairmanship, a source in the Congress said.
The contenders are Thambaljao Phaomei, Baleshwor, A Nimai and N Raghumani.
They have started lobbying party leaders for the post, the source hinted even though MPCC president Gaikhangam had said that the party is considering selecting one councillor as a consensus candidate for the post.
Efforts are on in the Congress to bring out a consensus candidate for the chairperson's post, said MPCC president Gaikhangam today.
In a meeting of the party held today under the chair of its president Gaikhangam again hinted of finding a consensus candidate for the post.
The meeting was convened to fix a date for hosting a felicitation function for the newly elected Congress councilors in the recently concluded IMC election.
In the election, mention may be made, Congress won in 14 wards out of 27 wards.
The felicitation function is likely to take place on May 11 after the Chief Minister comes back from New Delhi.
