Matru Vandana Saptah launches across districts

TBL/BPR/Kak/Spt, December 02 2019: In order to ensure availability of maternity benefits by all pregnant women, a week-long Matru Vandana Saptah (MVS) was launched today at the Counting Hall of DC office complex, Thoubal.

The launch programme organised by District Administration Thoubal under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was graced by Thoubal Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha Hasina Begum, Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal; N Bandana Devi and ADC, Thoubal L Radhakanta Singh as the dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries urged all concerned to avail the opportunity during the week-long programme.

They also expressed the importance of Anganwadi Workers' role in their respective jurisdiction for the successful implementation of the scheme.

It may be mentioned that the PMMVY scheme has been taken up by the Ministry of Women and Child Development for the welfare of women.

Under the scheme, a mother who delivers her first child gets a maternity benefit of Rs 5,000 in three instalments.

The scheme will continue till 2022 .

The launching programme was also attended by ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers and District Level Officers (DLOs) .

Bishnupur: On the other hand, Matru Vandana Saptah (MVS), which was launched on January 1, 2017, as part of Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana under Ministry of Women and Child Development, for Bishnupur District was also inaugurated today at the conference hall of Mini Secretariat, Bishnupur.

The launch programme organised by District Administration Bishnupur and ICDS Cell Bishnupur under the theme "Towards building a healthy Nation" was presided by the District DC, Neeta Arambam.

District Programme Officer ICDS, Cell, Bishnupur, Th Phulobati Devi, Chief Medical Officer, Bishnupur, Dr T Manihar Singh, several Medical Officers, Anganwadi Workers and several ICDS Project Officers also participated the opening ceremony among others.

On the occasion, Neeta Arambam said that only 27,000 pregnant women in Manipur have availed the benefits of the scheme so far out of targeted 31,500 beneficiaries.

Saying that 3,300 women in the district have taken advantage of the scheme, the DC added that intensive drive will soon be conducted by the Anganwandi Workers to identify more eligible women in the district.

Kakching: A week-long Matru Vandana Saptah (MVS) which will continue till December 8 was also opened for Kakching District today at the conference hall of district DC office, today.

The inaugural programme which is being organised by District Administration Kakching was participated by Kakching ADM, M Kapajit; CMO, Dr Th Somorendro; CDPO, S Milankumar; CHC MO in-charge, Dr H Surjitkumar ; UPHC MO in-charge, Dr Kiran Elangbam; SDC, P Gambhir; DHS, District Programme Manager, Naorem Romen; Hiyanglam SDC, M Gunamani and ICDS Kakching/Thoubal, DPO, T Anita.

Senapati: The Matru Vandana Saptah under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) for Senapati District was launched by Ningreingam, SDO, DHQ as the chief guest at District Hospital, Senapati.

The launching programme organised by the District Administration in collaboration with ICDS Cell, Senapati and District Health Society, Senapati was attended by CMO of the District, Medical Superintendent of the District Hospital, Senapati, District Level Officers (Medical), staffs of the Axis Bank and HDFC Bank and ICDS and medical staff.

In her welcome note, Miranda Zimik, DPO, ICDS Cell, Senapati stated that early registration of pregnancy in PHC, CHC or Hospital would be credited a sum of Rs 1,000 and who received at least one ANC after 6 months would be credited a sum of Rs 2,000 in the second instalment and finally, when a childbirth is registered and whose child has received first cycle of BCG, OPV, DPT and Hepatitis-B or its equivalent would be credited with a sum of Rs 2,000 again under the PMMVY scheme.

However, she stated that many mothers did not enrol themselves in the medical centre as they do not have a proper bank account and Aadhar card.

Ningreingam stated that the scheme is introduced for the welfare of pregnant women.

The SDO also stated that the scheme would encourage the pregnant mothers and lactating mothers to undergo the needful processes to prevent unnatural death, asking all to grasp the opportunity given by the Government.
