Imphal, December 02 2012:
Strongly refuting the report that appeared in the December 2 issue of this paper under the caption, 'Ght HC decrees', the Registrar of the Imhal Bench of Gauhati High Court has firmly stated, "It is categorically made clear that till today there is no such instruction from the Gauhati High Court, Guwahati to the Registrar of Imphal bench to dismiss cases on default if the lawyers fail to turn up in the Courts as stated in your newspaper" .
Taking serious note of the report, the Registrar said 'since it concerns important institution and the matter published in your newspaper is sensitive issue, such publication may not be repeated in future without confirmation from the Registry" .
Meanwhile, executive member of the High Court Bar Association, Khaidem Mani has termed the report as unfortunate and dismissed it as baseless and false.
Talking to the media, Mani said that the report has the potential to sabotage the points being pursued by the Bar Association.
Asserting that the source, who provided the information, does not understand Court proceedings, Mani said that the source is nothing less than some mischief mongers.
The Registrar of the High Court has also conveyed to the Bar Association that he has not received any such decree from the Gauhati High Court, said Mani.
By providing such misleading information, the source/sources is/are challenging the Bar Association, said Mani and added that there is no reason why they should not be pulled up and legal proceedings initiated against them.
Mani also urged the media persons not to entertain information from dubious sources.
On the other hand, members of the Bar Association are set to hold a meeting tomorrow in connection with the ongoing agitation.
However there is every likelihood that the said report may throw a spanner to arriving at an agreeable conclusion during the proposed meeting, he added.
Members of the Bar Association have been desisting from attending Court since November 8 demanding that once a separate High Court is established for Manipur, all the Judges should be appointed from the State and that their number should not be less than five.
