Fish fair to open at 11 am

Imphal, November 01 2024: The Annual Fish Fair Cum Fish Crop Competition 2024 would be opened at 11 am on Saturday at Hapta Kangjeibung.

The Fishery Department has been organising the annual fish fair cum fish crop competition every year on the eve of Ningol Chak-kouba festival.

In a video message shared on social media, Fishery Minister Heikham Dingo said that the annual fish fair cum fish crop competition is being organised for the 45th time with the primary objective of making fish available to the public at cheaper rates.

Different fish varieties including indigenous varieties, agriculture and horti- culture produces, vegetables and other agricultural produces brought from the hills and products made by displaced people would be made available at the fair, Dingo said.

He also appealed to the public to come to the fair which is being organised under the supervision of Chief Minister Biren and make it a success.

Dingo also conveyed best Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba wishes to the people of Manipur.

Notably, Manipur skipped the Ningol Chakkouba festival last year on account of the violent crisis and as such there was no fish fair.
