Imphal, June 01 2014:
Claiming that her husband Nongthom-bam Manglembabu (49) of Awang Potshangbam Khullen Thouribi was murdered by three persons from the same locality in March this year, the deceased's wife demanded that the accused trio be pulled up for suitable action under the law of the land.
Speaking to newspersons at Manipur press Club today, N Gambhini (41) w/o Mang-lembabu said her husband was called out from home at around 7 pm of March 8 by the three persons with the ex-planation that Manglembabu's presence at a meeting of the locals is unavoidable.
Identifying the three persons as K Babusana, Oinam Tomba and Oinam Somendro, Gambhini said inspite of being strongly warned and abused by Somendro when she followed her husband, she however attended the meeting and came to know that the local congregation was related to the death of a habitual drinker namely Oinam Laxman.
Apart from charging Manglembabu of being close to a local youth said to be possessed by spirit, he was accused of causing Laxman's death through sorcery, the distraught wife narrated while recounting that those present at the meeting severely thrashed her husband who consequently breathed his last the next morning (March 9) .
Regretting that fervent appeal by her husband that he had nothing to do with laxman's demise had no bearing on the locals, Gambhini also took serious exception of alleged inordinate delay in investigating the case by the police inspite of an FIR filed on matter on April 15 .
The police continue to insist that investigation is on but there is still no sign of any positive development, she opined and demanded that the probe be expedited to deliver justice at the earliest possible.
