Sadar Hills, November 30 2016:
Reiterating its decision to boycott the Indian National Congress (INC) in the entire administration of Sadar Hills, the Joint Action Committee, Sadar Hills today declared boycott of the Naga People's Front (NPF) in Sadar Hills.
The decision to boycott the NPF in Sadar Hills was taken during a meeting of the JAC held at Kangpokpi.
The NPF is allegedly sponsored by the UNC in Manipur and the decision to boycott the party was based on this line.
The JAC expressed its sincere gratitude to the leaders and workers of Kangpokpi Block Congress Committee for resigning from the Congress yesterday while reiterating its appreciation to the Congress Councillors who had also resigned enmasse from the Congress earlier.
It also resolved to give an ultimatum to the Congress leaders and workers of Saikul and Saitu-Gamphazol to resign from the party on or before December 5 and to publish the same in all leading newspapers of the State.
Expressing deep disappointment that the United Naga Council (UNC) has given an ethnic interpretation to the demand for Sadar Hills district and subjecting the people to extreme hardship with the ongoing economic blockade, the JAC Sadar Hills dubbed the UNC as anti-Sadar Hills and decided to boycott its [UNC] sponsored political party, the NPF in Sadar Hills.
The JAC Sadar Hills said "we appreciate the political aspirations of the NPF in Nagaland but the way NPF has been sponsored and endorsed by the communal UNC is not acceptable to the people of Sadar Hills " .
It also alleged that the stand of the UNC on Sadar Hills issue will affect the integrity of Manipur.
Taking into account the ethnic interpretation given to the demand for Sadar Hills district, it said "we are constrained to announce that the UNC is anti-Sadar Hills and therefore it is resolved to boycott the political party which it has sponsored, the NPF" .
The JAC also recalled that the UNC had in its Yaikongpao Declaration on October 19 announced its decision to support the NPF in the coming Assembly election.
Meanwhile, JAC Sadar Hills strongly denied the statement of All Meiteis Clubs' Organization, Manipur on November 28 which reportedly claimed that the proposed map of Sadar Hills district encompasses more than 30 villages settled by Meiteis.
The JAC Sadar Hills said that only Langdeibung village with a population of 58 with 20 households under Saitu Gamphazol sub-division is the only SC Meetei village found in Sadar Hills in the official record as per Census 2011 .
Therefore, the AMCOM claim is unfounded, it added.
