Imphal, August 31 2014:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has also strongly condemned the killing of Ayopam Ramror, 39, and V S Ram kashing, 29, by the security forces in a UNC organised march yesterday.
The rally organised by the UNC in defiance of the prohibitory orders clamped under section 144 of CrPC was participated by the majority of Ukhrul district population demanding withdrawal of Manipur police commandos and MR/IRB personnel deployed at Ukhrul and expedition of the Indo-Naga peace talk.
A heated dispute between the security forces and the marchers allegedly led to the firing of arms by the security forces.
Two persons were reportedly killed many injured in the incident.
A press statement issued by UCM expressed the committee's heartfelt grief to the bereaved families.
Expressing that the imposition of CrPC 144 in Ukhrul district has disturbed normal life, it suggested establishment of a security outpost under the Home Department's general policy for effective maintenance of law and order instead of imposing of CrPC Section 144 for a prolonged period.
