Imphal, August 31 2011: For the first time in Manipur, the Institute of Bioresearch and Sustainable Development (IBSD) located at Takyel here has started working along with linking up with other research institutes of the country through National Knowledge Network (NKN) since July last.

Talking to The Sangai Express in this connection, Director of the Institute NC Talukdar informed that information sharing in the field of research has been started with other research institutes through the medium of internet and this Network.

It is for the first time that a research institute based in Manipur has been linked up with other research institutes located in different parts of the country with the help of this Network.

Following the link up, IBSD has also been connected with other Universities, Research Institutes and IITs which are already under the ambit of National Knowledge Network, the Director said.

The main objective of this network is knowledge sharing and bringing together the scientists and research scholars in research works, the Director explained.

The Nodal Officer in charge of National Knowledge Network of the Institute Bharat G Somkumar disclosed that 50 sets of computer and one server have been installed in IBSD to ensure successful implementation of the network.
