BJP set to explore Chief Ministerial candidate

BJP National General Secretary and coordinator of Northeastern States Ram Madhav has stated due consultations with the party's Central and State leaders would be started soon to announce BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate for Manipur which is set to go to polls early next year.
With Ram Madhav as chief guest, the first meeting of the BJP Manipur Pradesh executive body formed under president Ksh Babhananda was held today at Hotel Imphal.
The closed-door meeting lasted for over three hours.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Ram Madhav said that due consultation with party leaders of the Centre and the State would be started soon to identify the party's Chief Ministerial candidate even though no one has been tipped as the Chief Ministerial candidate as of now.

On being enquired about the possibility of some Congress MLAs coming within the fold of BJP, Ram Madhav claimed that many qualified individuals have conveyed their desire to join BJP in the backdrop of the party's growing popularity in the State of Manipur.
Informing that the party would welcome all the people who are desirous of joining BJP, the BJP General Secretary asserted that the people of Manipur are now yearning for a change in the existing administrative system controlled by the incumbent corrupt Congress Government.
To bring the desired changes, BJP has been making all efforts to strengthen its Manipur unit.
He further informed that BJP would start due preparations to launch a political agitation which would expose all the wrongdoings of Chief Minister O Ibobi with evidence.
Claiming that the State executive meeting held today was a success, Ram Madhav informed that many key issues of the State were deliberated at the meeting.
He further informed that the meeting adopted several resolutions related to the State's politics and economy.
With a view to next year's State Assembly election, strategies have been chalked out to strengthen the party at the Mandal level and at the level of polling stations.
Commenting on the issue of ILPS, Ram Madhav said that the proposals of the State Government and all the points discussed between representatives of different political parties including BJP State unit and the Union Home Minister are being examined.
He assured that no efforts would be spared in order to ensure that the interests of Manipuri people are not harmed.
The meeting resolved to launch a campaign against misuse of huge amounts of funds sanctioned by the Central Government for the State in different sectors by depositing the amounts in the account of MDS.
To invest all necessary efforts to streamline implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State and enact a legislation which would be acceptable to all communities with regard to the ILPS movement were some other resolutions adopted at the executive meeting held today, Ram Madhav added.
