Imphal, June 30 2015 :
AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai has appealed to the general public including NGOs and CSOs not to call reporters for trivial and/or private matters which are not news worthy at all.
Speaking to fellow media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Shamjai said that if anyone or group has something to tell the media, they may come to Manipur Press Club or inform media houses in advance provided what they wish to share with the media is of public interest.
The terms press conference, press meet and press briefing have separate meanings and connotations, and they must not be used indiscriminately.
He informed that AMWJU would organise a tree plantation drive in July as a part of observing Vanmahotsav.
Tree saplings would be planted around Manipur Press Club as well as around the proposed Press Housing Colony.
DFO Central has already provided 500 numbers of tree saplings for the green campaign.
Paddy seeds (Swarna Sub-I variety) given by Agriculture Department would be distributed to AMWJU members who are also engaged in paddy cultivation tomorrow, he added.
