Education Minister Th Basantakumar has directed the ZEO, Ukhrul to introduce no school bag day in the district every Saturday to relieve the stress of children and make school hours more engaging.
The Education Minister made the statement during a virtual programme held as a part of "Garib Kalyan Sammelan'' at Hamleikhong, Ukhrul, today.
Basantakumar said that education should not be limited to classroom or textbooks only but provide a platform for the children to expose their skills.
He then directed the ZEO, Ukhrul to issue a circular to all schools to enforce no school bag day in the district every Saturday.
Urging the school authorities in Ukhrul to organise non-scholastic activities such as social service camp, discussion on good habits and others to foster positive thinking in the students, the Education Minister continued that Rs 25 crore will be sanctioned under CSR programme to promote skill development and digital learning with maximum focus in hill districts.
"We cannot progress as a Nation and as people without education," he added.
Basantakumar further stated that he attended the programme to understand the aspiration of the people.
Continuing that welfare schemes must cover all eligible populace so that they could receive sort of assistance from the Government in running their families, the Minister urged all officials concerned to spread awareness about the benefits of Government schemes to the people.
Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar spoke about Garib Kalyan Sammelan during the interaction session.
He said that the Centre has implemented many schemes pertaining to health care, housing, sanitation, nutrition, free gas connection to uplift the living standard of people, especially the poor and transform the country.
