Imphal, May 31 2011:
A joint emergency meeting of the ADC members held yesterday at Kuki Inn has strongly condemned the bomb blast that ripped through the temporary ADC office at Khuman Lampak on May 28 in which three women of a family were injured.
The meeting has also appealed to the Government to book the culprits at the earliest so that such anti-social activities are not repeated and provide a sense of security to the ADC members.
Condemning the attack as an inhuman act, the members present felt that such threats can never bring about any peaceful solution but rather create more problems in the society and appealed to the individual/group responsible for the attack to come forward with an explanation.
The ADC members felt that the most urgent need in the society today is development and peace and any attack on the life of the people who are in the forefront for development is a direct attack on the life of the common people.
Therefore, such hindrance to development should never be encouraged by the society at any cost.
Furthermore, the members present took note of the fact that ADC has been restored for local self-governance after a gap of 20 years to ensure direct benefits of all developmental aspects to the people right from the grassroots level.
More power and facilities have already been devolved to the ADC members by the Government and implementation of various developmental works have already been started at the village, block and district level.
