Moirang Kendra COVID-19 Tengbang Fund, COVID-19 Challengers launched 6-day disinfection programme underway at Khangabok

With a bid to assist and offer relief to daily wage earners of Moirang and other people in distress during the lockdown on account of COVID-19 pandemic, " Moirang Kendra COVID-19 Tengbang Fund" was launched today by P Sharatchandra, who is the MLA of Moirang Assembly Constituency.
The local MLA himself made a generous donation of Rs 1 lakh on the launch event held at his residence at Moirang Phairembam Leikai while Senior Citizens for Society Moirang A/C Chapter, Grow Manipur Team (GMT), BJP Councillors of Moirang Municipal Council and AMOFA contributed Rs 10,000; Rs 1 lakh; Rs 30,000; Rs 5000, Rs 10,000 respectively.
Along with donation from 16 other individuals, the total amount raised on the first day stands at Rs 4,60,000 .

A committee is soon going to be constituted to monitor and undertake the relief work with the fund to be raised, the MLA said while urging everyone to join the humane effort.
He also informed that all those intending to donate may make their contributions on cash or via the internet.
Expressing his concern over the growing number of positive cases of COVID-19 globally, he urged everyone to act responsibly by maintaining social distance and avoid gathering during the lockdown which is the best means to stop the spread of the virus.
"COVID-19 Challengers" floated in Thoubal In the meantime, DC Thoubal, N Bandana has launched "COVID-19 Challengers", a home delivery service to assist those who are home quarantined in Thoubal district.
The service was initiated under the aegis of District Administration Thoubal with the assistance of District Police, District Health Society Thoubal, Nehru Yuva Kendra and members of Red Cross Society to help facilitate those in home quarantine to buy their essential stuff.
DC Thoubal also asked to contact on mobile Nos 8415023722/8787436496 to avail the home delivery facility without delivery charge.
She also requested all to follow the safety instructions issued by the authorities concerned and stay safe at home.
The COVID 19 Challengers team initiated today also delivered orders placed by 7 individuals from Wangkhem, Khoirom, Charangpat Athokpam and Sabantongba on the first day.
On the other hand, a 6-day disinfection programme that would be carried out at Khangabok Assembly Constituency under Thoubal district began Monday to sanitize the locality as a precautionary measure against novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) .
The programme is being organised by EYOK Khangabok, Modern Youth Club (MYC) and Social Education and Sports Union (SESU) Khangabok and led by social worker Khundrakpam Menjor Mangang under the supervision of Thoubal Deputy Commissioner.
On the second day, i.e today, the volunteers also picked up garbages from different parts of the constituency while spraying disinfectants.
Speaking to media persons, Menjor Mangang urged all to follow the guidelines laid down by the Government to contain the spread of the virus.
He also urged all to maintain social distancing while coming out to buy essential commodities.
Disinfectants were also sprayed at places which fall under the jurisdiction of Moirang Municipal Council and Thoubal Bazar too.
The sanitization drives at Moirang was carried out by Moirang Municipal Council while that of Thoubal drive was conducted by Thoubal Police Station, Thoubal Municipal Council and Thoubal Fire Service.
