Assam Rifles organises mobile COVID-19 vaccination drive

Imphal, June 16 2021:
In continuation to its ongoing mobile Covid vaccination drive Tamenglong Battalion under the aegis of HQ 22 Sector Assam Rifles/HQ IGAR (East) in collaboration with State Health Department undertook COVID sanitization, awareness and vaccination drive in Gorkha Tapan village in Kangpokpi District of Manipur yesterday.
The medical team of 44 Assam Rifles alongwith village volunteers carried out sanitization of all prominent places like school, community hall, religious place and other public places of the village.
They have carried out spraying of disinfectant around these places.
Various, cut outs, banners and posters on COVID-19 were displayed to spread covid appropriate behaviour awareness.
The medical team alongwith the PHC, Para Medical Staff have facilitated on the spot registration of first shot of Covid vaccine.
During this session the medical team administered 210 vaccines to the beneficiaries from various age category.
(154 people from 18 years plus and 56 people from above 45 years plus).
Apart from administering the vaccines, the Chief Medical Officer delivered a talk on COVID-19 complication awareness to the beneficiaries focusing on creating awareness about precautions to be taken in wake of recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
Use of face masks, social distancing and frequent use of hand sanitizers among other precautions were emphasized during the awareness drive.
He also mentioned about the myths of vaccination complication which are being circulated in the society through various means.
The misinformation campaign has made many people reluctant to take the vaccine.
Through talk the villagers were motivated to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest.
