Imphal, November 09:
The Manipur International Youth Centre (MTYC) said balkanization of Manipur is impossible and every move to change the map of Manipur will be futile.
Reacting to the UNC memorandum to the Centre, MIYC said UNC could have discussed the genuine grievances of all the tribes with the Governor beforehand.
The organization made a fervent appeal to the Governor to take up steps for uplifting the hill economy of Manipur or at least launch plans for economic development of the hills.
It also urged the UNC to give more thrust on economic development of all the communities of the State.
The statement reminded that the 1st Schedule of the Constitution of India defines the present territories of Manipur and Jammu and Kashmir as ones that have existed before the framing of the Indian Constitution in 1950.The Constitution may be totally abrogated, yet the territory of Manipur remains unalterable because of it's precedence over the Constitution, it added.
MIYC considers all residing in Manipur as equals irrespective of their religion or profession.
