Displaced boy found hung to death

Imphal, September 28 2025:
A 14 year old boy, reading in IX standard and belonging to an internally displaced family, was found hung to death at the bicycle shed of Jiribam Higher Secondary school this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Yurembam Angamba (14) s/o Romio of Lamtai Khunou, Borobekra sub-division, Jiribam district and he had been staying at the Jiribam Higher Secondary School relief camp after being evacuated from their Lamtai Khunou residence, sources said.
Notably, many houses at Lamtai Khunou including that of Angamba's family were burnt down by Kuki militants.
The tragic incident came to light early this morning.
Soon after getting information of the tragic incident, concerned State authority and a Jiribam Police team arrived at the relief camp.
After inquest of the dead body and its surrounding area by forensic experts, the dead body was taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
Meanwhile, a UD case has been registered at Jiribam police station.
According to the sources, Angamba's mother said that the boy returned to the relief camp at around 11 pm yesterday after attending a Lai Haraoba in the nearby area and he was found hung to death at around 2 am today.
After post mortem at Silchar Medical College and Hospital, the last rites of the deceased boy were performed at Jiribam today.
Meanwhile, many families, particularly IDPs have expressed deep worry on the psychological toll children are facing because of the protracted violence and displacement.
