Imphal, January 27 2023:
The proscribed PREPAK has claimed responsibility for the serial bomb blasts which took place at 5.15 pm of January 25 at Gandhi statue platform, Ukhrul town, 11.30 pm of January 25 near the iron bridge of Khurkhul-Sekmai road and 6.15 pm of January 26 at Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak.
A press release issued by the outfit's department of publicity and propaganda, publicity officer Mangal Khuman informed that the bomb blasts were carried out by the Red Army's Special Task Force A, B and C .
Moreover, bombs were planted at Kyamgei Pal Ahanbi (along Imphal-Moreh highway), Keirao Langdum Lamkhai and Heingang Khong (along Pangei-Saikul road) but the bombs failed to go off, it said.
The acts of planting and triggering bombs was a testimony of PREPAK's unwavering opposition to celebration of Indian Republic Day and the outfit's unstinted support to the boycott call given by CorCom and other like-minded revolutionary groups, it said.
Saying that Manipur was forcibly merged into the Indian Union in 1949, the outfit maintained that there is no connection between the Republic Day of India and Kangleipak (Manipur) .
Celebration of Indian Republic Day on the soil of Kangleipak is an attempt to distort the history of Kangleipak and at the same time consolidate the alien rule, the outfit alleged.
It went on to claim that the PREPAK and its Red Army, along with the masses, have been standing firm to win back the sovereignty of Kangleipak.
Conveying grief and regret over the injuries inflicted on some civilians by the bomb blast which took place at Ukhrul town, the outfit prayed for speedy recovery of all the victims.
It said that the civilians suffered casualties due to certain errors in setting the bomb's timer.
Expressing deep remorse over the incident, the outfit conveyed solidarity to all the families of the injured victims.
