Imphal, December 26 2014 :
Launching a scathing attack against the incumbent Congress Government for its failure to nab those criminal elements who were behind the fatal bomb blasts which killed many lives right in the heart of Imphal city, MPP president N Sovakiran has asked if the Government is indirectly supporting violence.
The 47th foundation day of Manipur People's Party (MPP) was held today at the party office here.
Notably, MPP was set up on December 26, 1968 in a room of the Old Assembly building.
Y Yaima, Sekmai Chaoba, Salam Tombi and Langpoklakpam Chaoyaima were the founder leaders of MPP.
After hoisting the party flag, Sovakiran said that the foundation day was being observed in memory of the founder leaders.
The political force of regionalism has been growing rapidly in the country.
In tandem with the growing strength, the necessity of regionalism in the country's political landscape has been rising with each passing day, Sovakiran asserted.
More and more political parties are now concentrating on protection and promotion of the interests of their respective communities.
Even though MPP is now passing through a critical phase, the party would rise up from the abyss and would be fit enough to serve the people once again, Sovakiran asserted.
Dismissing the claims of Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam that the State's law and order situation has improved considerably, Sovakiran pointed out that the State Government is still unable to book and punish the culprits involved in triggering fatal bomb blasts inside high security zones of Imphal city.
The recent powerful bomb blasts have only exacerbated the State's law and order situation.
The State Government's reluctance to rope in the service of NIA/CBI to investigate into these bomb blasts evoked a strong suspicion whether the State Government has been directly supporting violence, Sovakiran alleged.
In spite of repeated appeals by the concerned JAC to provide compensation to the family of MPP vice-president H Manisana who was assassinated by unknown gunman, no compensation has been provided so far.
However, the State Government has been giving generous ex-gratia to the families of non-local people killed in different bomb blasts at Imphal, he lamented.
