Kangpokpi, November 26 2019:
The Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) has flatly rejected the allegation against it of looting passengers of a TATA Winger coming from Dimapur to Imphal near Taphou Taxation office on Monday as published in some local dailies.
KRA clarified that it has nothing to do with the allegation and is not involved in the alleged incident.
The outfit's information and publicity secretary, T Simte said that the allegation upon the cadres of looting passengers and beating driver of a TATA Winger near Taphou Taxation office without ascertaining the fact was very unfortunate as no cadres of KRA were currently stationed at Taphou Kuki and its surrounding areas.
KRA countered that the incident could have been done by some vested interest people to malign the image of the outfit.
There has been strict instruction to all cadres not to indulge in highway robbery or loots which can disrupt peaceful journey of all commuters, it said.
KRA under the aegis of Kuki National Organization is committed to promoting peace and harmony in all operational areas at this juncture when peace talks with the Governments to find a lasting solution to the vexed Kuki political issue is at its peak.
It also appealed the former president of All Manipur Inter State Bus and Allied Transport Association, Buddha Luwang to make a mature statement by ascertaining the facts and only after establishing the authenticity when it comes to such complicated allegation to the organization which is under suspension of operation as such 'unfounded' allegation could unnecessarily land the organization in deep troubles.
The KRA is in no way connected to the alleged incident, it said.
