Ukhrul, November 26 2013: Members of Tangkhuls on Facebook, a facebook group, today organised a candlelight vigil at Gandhi Chowk, Phungreitang Ukhrul to register condemnation against the series of blasts that occurred in the district and to show solidarity to the victims.

The Candlelight vigil witnessed a huge turnout of participants apart from the Facebook group members, including students of various schools.

Rev HA Thanmi, Pastor of PBC read out a scripture from the Bible while calling upon the members of the Tangkhul community to shun the idea of creating division among themselves.

The Reverend said the recent happenings in the district like human trafficking and bomb culture are against the teaching of Christianity while urging the people to follow the Biblical teaching of tolerance and obeying God's commandments.

Placards and banners including 'Stop bombing,' 'Initiate peace,' 'We Want to live in peace,' 'give peace a chance,' 'We condemn the blasts,' et al were put on display at the venue.

Meanwhile, administrators of the facebook groups, Tangkhuls on Facebook appealed the district administrator to provide enough security to the public so as to avert untoward incidents in future.

At the same time, they also lamented that the MLAs of the district have seemingly forgotten the people at this time.

They further appealed all concerned to settle any difference through dialogue.
