Rape Of School Going Young Student ; Commission team visits rape victim

A team of Manipur State Commission for Women led by its Chairperson today paid a visit at the Imphal East district residence of the class XII student rape victim.
Speaking to newspersons after inquiring about the incident and consoling the victim and her family, Commission Chairperson Dr L Ibetombi Devi said the matter calls for contribution from every section of the society to ensure that all those involved in the heinous act are punished in a fitting manner.
Expressing that in some similar incidents of the past, the victim and accused person agreed on certain terms with financial compensation as a basis of the agreement, the Chairperson said every incident of rape should be dealt with all seriousness to curb men's brutality against the fairer sex.
Dr Ibetombi also strongly advocated effectively curbing the menace of drug and substance abuse for most cases of rape were found to have been committed under the influence of intoxicating items.
Pledging that the Commission would leave no stone unturned in punishing the accused police personnel and his partner in-crime, if any, she lamented that modesty of a young student has been outraged by one of the members of law enforcing agent.
