AJWJU flays detention by AR of its general secretary, Y Sanjit

Imphal, March 26 2012: All Jiribam Working Journalists' Union (AJWJU) has also condemned in the strongest term the detention of its general secretary, Y Sanjit alias Thoiba in the midnight of March 25 .

Sanjit, who works as a Correspondent of Imphal based daily, Hueiyen Lanpao, was picked up by the troops of 22 Assam Rifles from Golarthol.

He was on his way home from a Thabal Chongba venue at Leingangpokpi.

However, he was released the next morning, said a AJWJU in a statement.

AJWJU said that security personnel are frequently harassing and threatening the scribes of the sub-division in the name of counter insurgency operation.

The union cautioned that media fraternity would not remain silent if security forces continue to harass the scribes.
