NIT organises workshop on Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

A district-level consultative workshop on Unnat Bharat Abhiyan was held at Don Bosco College, Maram, today.
Organised by National Institute of Technology, Manipur in collaboration with Department of Computer Science, Don Bosco College, Manipur under the sponsorship of Ministry of Human Resource Development, the programme started with a welcome address from Kh Angamba Singh, HOD, Department of Computer Science, DBCM.
The workshop stressed mainly on the enrichment of villages in general.
Dr P Albino Kumar, Regional Coordinator (UBA), Dean (Academics & Affairs) NIT Manipur gave an introductory speech and spoke extensively about Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.
He said that this scheme is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development to enrich the rural area.
The main objectives of the scheme are to adopt village and to bring about development.
VDP (Village Development Plan) was set up under this scheme, he added.
He further said that after adopting villages, funds would be sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development through IIT regional.
NIT Manipur is the regional coordinator for the entire Manipur region.
So far NIT Manipur has adopted 5 villages in Manipur and is responsible for every institution to register in UBA.
About 25 institutions have been trained in Manipur.
Fr (Dr) KO Sebastian, Principal, Don Bosco College, Maram appreciated the UBA scheme being organised by the regional coordinator, NIT Manipur.
He assured to extend full co-operation to the UBA team and their efforts for the upliftment of the rural area.
The workshop also comprised of a technical session conducted by Babita Khwairakpam, Coordinating staff (UBA), NIT Manipur.
