TMNL decries failure to maintain Imphal-Ukhrul road

Ukhrul, August 25 2024: The Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (Youth League), Ukhrul has criticized the failure of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) in maintaining the Imphal-Ukhrul road during the monsoon season.

TMNL president Themaso Tallanao said that the ongoing road construction of NH-202 from Yainganpokpi to Ukhrul remains deplorable due to frequent landslides at multiple points of the highway stretch.

He also said that the incessant rain triggered landslides at multiple points and the highway is blocked at Gwaltabi Mahadev, Shangkai, TM Kasom and Ramva-Finch corner areas causing immense transportation inconveniences.

Themaso maintained that clearance of the road won't take more than 6-7 hours.

Saying that they are not satisfied with the response from NHIDCL in maintaining the road, he said that the Tangkhul Youth Council views the matter seriously.
