Imphal, April 25 2021:
Expressing strong suspicion that there may be over 20 COVID-19 positive people within Thangmeiband AC, MLA Kh Joykisan has appealed to all the people of his Assembly segment (Thangmeiband) to get tested and vaccinated as soon as possible.
Speaking to media persons at his Khoyathong residence today, Joykisan said that if any resident of Thangmeiband AC wishes to get tested for COVID-19, all the expenditure would be borne by the Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO).
When the COVID-19 pandemic first struck the State, the Government worked hard to check the spread of the virus by forming committees with MLAs as chairmen.
But this time, the Government seems not attentive enough.
Moreover, the committees formed earlier seemed to be not functioning properly, he remarked.
If the Government is determined to fight the pandemic effectively, the committees formed earlier must be re-activated and all information must be shared with MLAs, Joykisan said.
He then appealed to all families concerned to inform either the local club or the TAKDO or himself if any of their family member(s) is/are COVID-19 positive.
He said that necessary arrangements would be made through TAKDO to deliver food items, medicines etc to containment zones.
Appealing to all the people of Thangmeiband AC who are above 45 years to get vaccinated at the vaccination camp opened at RD Wing, Lamphelpat, the MLA said that TAKDO volunteers would extend necessary help if any one is facing inconveniencea in going to the vaccination camp.
He then questioned the whereabouts of the PWD's budgetary allocation for 2020-21.The MLA appealed to the authority concerned to allow urgent commencement of road/drain construction works for which work orders have been already issued.
Saying that no contractors would be willing to execute contract works without their liabilities being paid, Joykisan appealed to the authority concerned to release all pending liabilities.
Maintaining that roads and drains must be kept in good shape in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, Joykisan further urged the Government to release MLA Local Area Development Fund in time.
