Imphal, March 25 2015:
Greeting the people on the 35th Uprising Day of the Red Army which falls tomorrow, the proscribed PREPAK said that the day will be observed at its CHqs, GHqs, Tactical Hqs, unit hqs, base areas, transit camps, training centres etc and called upon the people to extend their support so that the cadres of the Red Army can continue with their mission without retreat.
Recalling that the day is being observed by clubbing three historic days of the outfit, PREPAK in a statement said that on September 2, 1979 a group of Red Army cadres led by the late Ningthemcha Tulachandra over ran Moirang police station and confiscated seventeen .303 rifles along with a large number of ammunition after annihilating one SI and 2 constables.
In the second incident which took place on February 22, 1980 a VVF camp was over run and three .303 rifles fell into the hands of the outfit, said the statement and added that on March 26, 1980 a CRPF convoy led by Commandant Mishra was ambushed near the Women hospital in the heart of Imphal.
One havildar was killed while two constables were injured in the attack.
One sten gun and one .303 rifle fell into the hands of the cadres, added the statement.
It is to commemorate the three 'historic' days that March 26 has been set aside as the Red Army Uprising Day, said the outfit.
The outfit also referred to the UN General Assembly declaration of December 14, 1960, chapter 1514 (XV) under 'Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples'.
This declaration is significant in that it backs the right of every people to demand the right to live in freedom, decide their own economy, future and culture and tradition.
Kangleipak lost her sovereignty twice in the course of her history, said the statement and added that on both occasions the desire of the people to live in freedom ensured that sovereignty was restored.
It is for the third time that Kangleipak has lost her sovereignty, added the outfit.
After Kangleipak was 'annexed' by India through force and deceit on October 15, 1949, Hijam Irabot raised the banner of revolt, claimed the outfit.
Following the footsteps of Irabot, the struggle continues to this day, said PREPAK and added that to neutralise the struggle, India has been imposing draconian laws.
Genocide too has been carried on, said the outfit and added that it is to fight against these forces that the struggle has been waged to this day.
It is to fight for the cause of the people and the land that PREPAK and its Red Army were formed on October 9, 1977 .
From that day on, a struggle has been launched to ensure equality and enable the people to stand on their own feet.
Towards this end, many have sacrificed their lives.
PREPAK called upon the people to contribute towards the struggle which has been taken up for the cause of the land and the people.
