Construction work on the Japanese 2nd World War Victims' Memorial Hospital Trust, Manipur sponsored by Japanese Hospital, Manipur is set to begin from January next year at Eshi Loukol of Khabeisoi in Imphal East district.
Three 2nd World War veterans from Japan namely Akimaro Tasukamoto, Kenichi Endo and Hideyuki Ebihara who arrived here visited the site where the hospital would be constructed, yesterday.
Introducing themselves today, they also interacted with the media during a press conference at Hotel Imphal today.

Addressing the media, president of Japanese Hospital Manipur TM Rajen Ayangba explained that the proposed hospital would have 1500 beds and pay special attention to treatment of poor and needy.
Stating that the hospital would help in solving unemployment problem in Manipur to some extent, Rajen assured that around 7000 people of the State would get employment in the hospital.
Forty staff of the hospital have already been appointed and they are currently undergoing training at JNIMS, he informed, adding that the training would continue till commissioning of the hospital.
Furthermore, he informed that 35 years of service would be provided to all the staff after which they would retire and enjoy pension benefit.
It is said that head office of the proposed Japanese Hospital is presently at Divine Polyclinic and has branches at Maipakpi Maternity and Child Hospital, and Public Hospital & Research Institute, Minuthong.
Pointing out that construction work of the hospital has been delayed due to the present instable situation in the State, Rajen informed that construction would be started just after receiving the registration number which is expected by January 2011.Earlier, the three Japanese war veterans paid tributes to the victims of 2nd World War.
