Imphal, July 23 2020:
With some of the BJP legislators demanding removal of N Biren from the post of Chief Minister since sometime back, two observers sent by BJP Central leaders arrived here today.
The two observers who arrived here today are BJP National vice-president Baijayant Panda and former Union Minister Manoj Sinha.
Soon after their arrival, the two observers held meetings with two BJP Ministers and some BJP MLAs at Classic Grande one after another, sources informed.
They asked the State BJP legislators whether they are in favour of changing the incumbent leadership or not.
The observers also sought reasons from the legislators for their choice.
However, what response the BJP Ministers and MLAs gave to the two Central observers could not be ascertained.
Even though phone calls were made to ascertain their responses, the phone calls were not entertained.
Notably, four BJP Ministers namely; Th Biswajit, V Hangkhanlian, Th Radheshyam and Nemcha Kipgen went to Delhi a few days back and they are reportedly undergoing home quarantine, but two of them met the two Central leaders today.
Significantly, it was not long after the BJP Ministers' return that the two Central observers arrived at Imphal and elicited opinions and wishes of the two BJP Ministers and MLAs one by one regarding the incumbent leadership.
Baijayant Panda and Manoj Sinha are likely to leave Imphal on July 25 before meeting more BJP MLAs, added the sources.
